Chanel Launches New Code Coco Watch
COCO’S CLASP: Chanel has launched its new Code Coco watch, a sleek stainless steel and diamond piece that comes in three models with varying quantities of diamonds. With its thin and discrete rectangular watch face, the piece doubles as a loose bracelet, the kind that slips to the wrist when the arm drops down.
Certain design elements are lifted from the house’s signature quilted 2.55 Bag. Most obvious is the bag’s rotating, oblong lock, which looks like it was plucked from the bag and snapped onto the face of the high-precision quartz movement watch. The bracelet’s grid serves as another reference to the handbag, in a subtle nod to Chanel’s trademark quilting.
The campaign features Lucia Pica, Virginie Viard, Alma Jodorowsky and Stella Tennant, Kim Young-Seong, Alice Dellal, Agnès Liely, Anna Mouglalis and Deniz Gamze Ergüven photographed by Leïla Smara.
Watches start at 4,850 euros, for the model featuring a 0.05 carat princess-cut diamond. The next model runs at 8,900 euros and comes with 52 brilliant cut diamonds. The priciest, limited to five pieces, has a 18-karat white gold and diamond-encrusted bracelet and costs 990,000 euros.
